Great Silent Wings

from NECTARIAN by Mary Isis

/

about

This song was inspired by a Rumi poem that was translated by Michael Green, from his beautiful book: One Song- A New Illuminated Rumi. One day I was reading through the book and the music came for this...as well as a few others. Michael granted me permission to use it. This song has sentimental meaning to me because I sang it to my beloved's father right before he passed on. It was recorded the very night he passed away. "Livicated" to Frank Manchak.

lyrics

"O Friend, Leave aside all the others, and Speak of yourself.
Say what you possess and what you have found and the pearls you have drawn from the deep.
When your senses fall into darkness, will your heart be a trustworthy flame?
When dust fills your eyes, will your grave still be bright?
When hands and feet fail, will you rise then on Great silent wings?"
